To complement our manufacturing facility, we have built a powder coating facility that enables us to powder coat all our own products on site in a wide range of colours and surface finishes.

We decided to build a modern powder coating facility to allow us to powder coat our own products. Having this powder coating facility on site has not only allowed us to take in subcontract powder coating from other companies nationwide but has significantly reduced our transport costs and lead-times for all the products we manufacture.

Specialist Coatings have the capacity to undertake large commercial projects and contracts but also offer the same high standard service to the individual customer.

We can powder coat new or restoration parts on bare metal, galvanised or zinc plated surfaces. If required we can chemically strip or media blast the parts to prepare them ready for powder coating.

Our primary powder coating oven is 3.6m long, 2.5m wide and 2.6m high. With a secondary oven measuring 1.8m long x 1.05m wide x 1.5m high. All measurement are of the internal oven space providing clear entry.

Our Powder Coating Process

We prepare the product to exacting surface finishing standards by gently removing old paint, rust, varnish or residue from manufacturing without damaging your precious part.

Preparation is key to a flawless finish. During the preparation stage parts are inspected for cracks or damage. Any damage is documented and discussed with the client before progressing to masking. Minor damage could be corrected by welding (Additional charges apply). Our knowledge of the parts and their function allows us to mask all areas that should be paint free. A correctly coated component is easy to assemble with no over spray.

A dry powder is electro statically charged and applied to the part. The part is earthed attracting the positively charged powder giving an all over even coat, with a depth of paint between 60-80 micron. The coated component is then placed within an oven for around 10-15 minutes at a specific temperature (usually 180-200 degrees depending on material) to cure the paint leading to a superior glass like, gloss finish.

All parts are then inspected to ensure they meet our high quality standards, before being photographed and packaged ready for delivery or collection.

Exceptional Quality Standards

All parts are inspected on arrival, the condition documented with photos and any damage noted. The inspection report and statement of works is emailed to the client for approval.

Once approved by the client, the finishing processes can begin. On completion the part is inspected again. The QA report, photos and invoice are emailed to the client.
